Hello! This was done for Figure Illustration. The assignment was to create a storyboard for an existing film, from a segment of script. There were several films to choose from and I went with the one I haven't seen - Annie Hall. We were meant to sort of re-imagine the scenes (camera angles, lighting), and not copy what's already been filmed, so I thought it might help if I had no previous visual knowledge of the film.
Well, here's the script if anyone's interested in what exactly is going on between these panels! [link] Read between "INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE-DAY" and "he laughs".
I referred to a very early scene, a sort of flashback into the main character's childhood - to the 1940s, in Brooklyn N.Y. Basically, his mother takes him to a doctor 'cause he's depressed about the inevitability of the world ending, and thus sees no point in going to school, lol. Good excuse, huh?
Anyway, I wanted to relate the atmosphere to the kid's gloomy mood. These were meant to be rough concepts rather than refined illustrations, so I just sketched the lines in pencil and coloured them in Photoshop. Aah, so nice not to have to ink over my pencil... always ends up looking worse... Well, so I had a good time with this project, and am actually really happy with how it turned out. ^__^
